The Celtics keep making ridiculous shots that don’t count
The Celtics have already put together an impressive collection of highlight plays during the young 2015-16 season. Unfortunately, the best of the bunch have failed to count in the box score.
Jae Crowder started the trend last Wednesday by inadvertently banking in a 94-foot shot on an inbounds pass that went a little long against the Pacers. The basket didn’t count and the Pacers were awarded the ball on the “miscue.’’
In the third quarter of the Celtics’ 99-83 win over the Bucks on Tuesday night, Evan Turner delivered an impressive follow up to Crowder’s toss. The swingman was fouled in transition in the open court, but still managed to get up a 60-foot one-handed shot. The heave connected but did not count, as officials ruled Turner had been fouled on the floor.

After the game, Turner was fine with the non-basket after doing plenty in the box score (13 points, five rebounds, six assists, four steals) to make up for the fact that the shot counted for nothing.

Turner isn’t lying about his arm, but it’s his recent play on the floor should excite Celtics fans more than the incredible shot on Tuesday. The 27-year-old is averaging 13.3 points, five rebounds, and four assists in his last three games, anchoring a bench unit that’s carried Boston to two straight wins.
