The Celtics’ backcourt got deeper and more talented as the 2015 NBA Draft rolled on.

With the 28th selection of the first round, Boston drafted shooting guard R.J. Hunter out of Georgia State on Thursday night. The 6’6’’ sharpshooter averaged 19.7 points per game, leading the Sun Belt Conference in that category, in a 2014-2015 season that culminated with March Madness heroics.

Hunter contributed one of the shining moments of the 2015 NCAA Tournament, with a little help from his father. No. 14 seed Georgia State stunned No. 3 Baylor in the round of 64 with a late rally that culminated in a game-winning, three-point shot by Hunter in the closing seconds. The deep delivery sent Georgia State to a 57-56 win and sent Ron Hunter, the team’s coach, falling off his stool.
