Marcus Smart earns NBA All-Rookie second team honors
Celtics point guard Marcus Smart, picked sixth overall in the 2014 NBA draft, was named to the NBA’s All-Rookie second team Monday. Smart played in 67 games (38 starts) for the Celtics this past season, averaging 7.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 34 percent from 3-point range in 27 minutes per night.
The 20-year old Smart took 28 votes for the first team and 82 for the second. His 142 total points (first-team votes are worth two points) were the most received by any player selected to the second-team.
Joining Smart on the second team are Minnesota forward Zach LaVine, Brooklyn forward Bojan Bogdanovic, Denver big man Jusuf Nurkc and Knicks’ guard Langston Galloway. The All-Rookie first team is comprised of Chicago forward Nikola Mirotic, 76ers forward/center Nerlens Noel, Orlando point guard Elfrid Payton, Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson and NBA Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins of the Timberwolves.
