Brad Stevens States ‘I’ll Be in Boston’ As Texas Coaching Rumors Surface

Celtics coach Brad Stevens insists he is sticking around.
Stevens is under contract with the Boston Celtics through the 2018-19 NBA season, but that has not stopped speculation tying him to top college basketball coaching jobs around the country. Seth Davis of CBSSports mentioned Stevens’ name when discussing possible coaching candidates for coaching vacancy created when the University of Texas parted ways with Rick Barnes:
If you want a sleeper for the job, it could be Avery Johnson. I’m also hearing some Brad Stevens chatter. This will be a fun one.

Stevens, who twice took Butler to the Final Four before coming to Boston, was asked before Wednesday’s game against the Pacers about interest from Texas.
“I’ll be in Boston,” he responded.
The dismissal echoes the commitment Stevens’ voiced to the Celtics job back in December to Paul Flannery of SB Nation. At the time, Stevens was being floated as a coaching savior for Indiana University.
“I’ve committed to being here,” he said. “I’ve already left a situation once and that was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to choose to do. This is something that as long as they want me to be here, this is what I want to be doing and I’m going to give it everything I’ve got.”
