Some Bros Got Schooled By WNBA Players Last Night on ‘The Bachelorette’

Every guy with an inflated sense of his own athletic ability — so basically every guy — has asked himself the same question when confronted with a high-level women’s basketball game on television:

Could I beat her one-on-one?

The answer, it turns out, is a resounding no, and it couldn’t have happened to a more down-to-earth bunch of dudes.

On Monday night’s episode of “The Bachelorette’’, bachelorette Andi Dorfman (she really told Juan Pablo where he could shove it, am I right?) takes her fellas to Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. For the group date, the guys play a little competive basketball, both against themselves and against a team of WNBA players.

The game featuring guys only was a chance for the contestants to show Dorman their stuff. One of the guys, Brian, is a basketball coach, an earnest fellow who comes off looking like a star vs. the other muscle-bound hunks. But against the WNBA players (Mohegan Sun is home to the WNBA team the Connecticut Sun), the boys get their asses kicked.

A team featuring Swin Cash, Tamika Catchings, Elena Delle Donne, Lindsey Harding and Nneka Ogwumike easily handle their male counterparts. On the opening jump ball, it takes the ladies all of 4 seconds to get a layup. On another play, Delle Donne, who is 6-foot-5, swats a shot with two hands.

“These girls are smoking us,’’ says contestant Nick V. “We are running around like a bunch of infants and they are barely trying.’’

ABC actually cut the clip short, presumably not to allow the viewing audience to think of the show’s man candy as anything less than hunk-a-riffic. You can watch the full Connecticut episode here.
