Julius Randle Declares For NBA Draft
To no one’s surprise, Kentucky forward Julius Randle is leaving the Wildcats after his freshman season to go to the NBA. Randle declared his intentions on Twitter:
I would like to thank the entire Kentucky family for this year, but I have decided to take the next step and enter into the NBA draft.
— Julius Randle (@J30_RANDLE) April 22, 2014
Randle averaged 15 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game this season. This monster move against Wichita State pretty much sums up his combination of athleticism and brute strength:
Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix has Randle going 5th to the Celtics in his latest mock draft. In terms of talent Randle definitely deserves to be picked that high, but to me Randle and Jared Sullinger would be redundant on the same roster. Both players are undersized big men with exceptional skill and power. It would be difficult to pair them together defensively.
