Paul Pierce good to go, more pregame notes
Paul Pierce could not have golfed yesterday, according to Celtics coach Doc Rivers, though Pierce will play tonight in Game 6 vs. the Atlanta Hawks. Pierce will continue to play through a knee injury he suffered before Game 3 Sunday.
“Obviously it’s not the best situation,” said Rivers. “He’s a scorer, and it makes it tough. We just have to figure out the most effective way for him to be effective, and the only way to do that is to play.”
One area where Rivers thought Pierce would be limited was getting to the free-throw line.
— In other notes, Rivers said he’s considered moving Avery Bradley out of the starting lineup only because of the difficult matchup provided by Joe Johnson, but Rivers said he wouldn’t do it tonight. If Bradley needs help early, Rivers said he is willing to make an early sub.
— Rivers said he wasn’t sure whether or not Mickael Pietrus’s struggles this series were related to injuries. Pietrus has eight points in five games.
