Reaction from Game 5

MIAMI — Reaction from both locker rooms after the Heat eliminated the Celtics with a 97-87 win in Game 5.

— Doc Rivers on his team’s future:

“I don’t believe this team is done. After listening to the Lakers being broken up after they lost, I’m sure, what the hell, we are all done. We have to add people. Other than that, I love the guys in that locker room.”

On the Heat:

“I didn’t like [the criticism of the Heat] because I thought it helped them. I said it all year that I wished you guys would leave them alone because it allowed them to go through something and prepare for the playoffs.”

— LeBron James on the “Decision”

“I apologize for the way it happened, but I knew this was a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

— James Jones on the late 3-pointers by LeBron James:

“The shots that he’s made over the last couple games are the biggest shots of the season.”

— Chris Bosh on closing out the Celtics:

“We have to give props to the Celtics. The are a fantastic team. No game was easy in the series. To compete with a team like that, night in and night out, was fantastic.”

— Ray Allen on why the Celtics lost the series:

“The one thing we didn’t do is limiting fouls and keeping them out of the paint. They lived in our paint, and scored a load of points inside. They have great shooters on the floor. If I had to sum up the series, they scored too much on the interior and got a lot of fast-break points.”

— James on winning the series:

“Everything went through my mind at that point, including finally getting over the hump against this team. Everything I went through this summer with the decision and trying to come down here and be a part of this team. I know how important team is to this sport. It’s not about individual. It was very emotional at that point. I am happy we got through it as a team.”
