More reaction from Celtics-Heat
MIAMI — Assorted postgame reaction from both locker rooms after the Celtics’ 99-90 loss to the Miami Heat Sunday at American Airlines Arena.
— Heat coach Erik Spoelstra on the physical play of the game:
“We aren’t trying to step out of who we are. We aren’t trying to be more physical than who we are just because it’s the playoffs or just because it is Boston. We’re a physical basketball team that has probably been understated all year long.”
— Ray Allen on playing after Paul Pierce’s ejection:
“We have a lot of guys that are capable of scoring points and playing defense. We didn’t hang our heads.”
– Jeff Green on his play:
“I didn’t do well enough. Our defense needed to pick it up.”
— LeBron James on his night (22 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists):
“My game doesn’t change. I’m still in attack mode. I know that I don’t have to average 35 points against Boston like I have done in the past. Stats are good for me invidually, but they did not get me anywhere.”
— Celtics coach Doc Rivers on what it means:
“This is a loss. That’s it. We will learn and watch film. It’s only one game, but I don’t know if it’s a winnable game or not. We didn’t play very well and we had our chances. I just thought they outplayed us tonight.”
Rivers on what the Celtics will change on Dwyane Wade in Game 2: “Not a thing.”
