Series shifts to New York

THE MASS PIKE — Greetings from Bolt Bus No. 0834, which I’m assuming is the finest in the fleet. We’re en route to 34th and 8th, which is just a short walk to Madison Square Garden, site of tonight’s Game 3 between the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks.

Was thumbing through today’s New York Post for a look at the view behind enemy lines, and nothing was unexpected. Carmelo Anthony definitely needs help, and the Knicks — as well as their fans — are excited for a home game. But there doesn’t seem to be much expectation of this Knicks team out of New York. The fans are as rabid as fans in Boston, but there’s much more angst at home about a team that’s up 2-0 than in New York about a team that’s down 2-0. It truly seems like the Knicks are just happy to be here.

We’ll be watching two big injury stories today (no, not Shaq) in Amar’e Stoudemire and Chauncey Billups. Stoudemire is likely to play, while Billups is a big question mark.

Talk to you all later today.
