Murphy could be called on
The Celtics got Troy Murphy for the stretch run, but one game into the postseason, Murphy has still yet to play in a playoff game during his 10-year career. It’s very possible we see Murphy sometime during this Knicks series. He was active for Game 1 but did not play.
Murphy played in 17 games with the Celtics during the regular season after starting the year in New Jersey, averaging 3.1 points and 3.2 rebounds. He was out on the parquet just now warming up and at one point hit about 15 3-pointers in a row from three different spots on the floor. Murphy’s ability to stretch the floor has not yet been a benefit for the Celtics, but it could, especially if he’s matched up on someone like Amar’e Stoudemire. If Jermaine O’Neal or Nenad Krstic get into foul trouble, Murphy could get the call.
