Green ready for his reveal
At times it seems like the Celtics traded Kendrick Perkins for Shaquille O’Neal. Jeff Green, the player the Celtics actually traded for, usually isn’t the first player mentioned when people discuss the deal. But Green has a chance to go from forgotten man to key role player as the playoffs begin tonight.
“I’m ready to get started,” said Green. “It’s been a long season. There’s been a lot going on for myself. I’m ready to get this series started.”
One reason the Celtics acquired Green is because of his versatility. Green’s ability to play both the small forward and power forward will be useful against a Knicks team that has an excellent player at each spot.
“It’s what I’ve been doing my whole career, playing multiple positions” said Green. “I use it to my advantage. It’s a challenge, but I’m going to take it on. It’s something that I take pride in.
“It’s not weird. My first year in Seattle I guarded Kobe [Bryant] one possession, Derek Fisher one possession, then Pau [Gasol] one possession.”
Green’s been putting in work in practice to catch up with the rest of his Celtics teammates. There’s a chance he finds himself in the postseason.
“My team has been there for me since Day 1,” said Green. They’ve been helping me along the way. I’m ready to get out there.”
