Welcome to the Garden …

Welcome to TD Garden, where the Boston Celtics will take on the Miami Heat at 7:30 p.m.

That’s Paul Pierce (left) warming up right now on the parquet. The Celtics captain is getting loose as television reporters apply makeup a few feet away in preparation for the live look-ins almost every sportscast is likely to provide tonight. Over 250 media members have been credentialed for this game, which is slightly fewer credentials than for an NBA Finals Game. Overkill?

Of course. But it should be fun anyways.

There are only so many conclusions to be drawn from the first game of the regular season, but the interest in this one comes not from the final result. We should see the first incarnation of Miami’s celebrated Nueva Big Three tonight so long as Dwyane Wade’s hamstring holds up. The assemblage of Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh was the basketball (and maybe sports) story of the summer, that that storyline alone will draw plenty of eyeballs. This is must-see TV and is one of only three matchups worthy of opening up this NBA season (Celtics-Lakers and Lakers-Heat would have been the others).

Enjoy this one. Should be a heck of a lot of fun.
