Pierce will play
Paul Pierce (shoulder) will start tonight vs. Oklahoma City, according to Celtics coach Doc Rivers.
“He’s gonna go,” said Rivers. “He’s fine. [Celtics trainer Ed Lacerte] just came to me and said he’s ready to go. Dr. McKeon looked at him and gave him the go-ahead. It’s good.”
In the Spurs game Sunday, Pierce was hit by Manu Ginobili and felt pain in his right shoulder, an injury Lacerte diagnosed as a ‘stinger'”. Pierce aggravated the injury during practice yesterday and left early.
“It’s scary,” said Rivers. “Obviously you don’t know why you get stingers. You should ask coach [Bill] Belichick, cause it’s a football injury. We don’t have a whole bunch of stingers in our league that we know of… Obviously it does concern you because you think if something like that happens there’s got to be a reason why.”
