Finley provides lift off the bench

The only shot Michael Finley missed tonight failed to hit the rim. The other six shots he took found nothing but net.

Finley shook off an early airball to finish 6 of 7 for 15 points against the Pistons, his best game since joining the Celtics earlier this month. Finley previously had 10 points in a blowout loss to Memphis on March 10.

“I try to work out every day to put myself in a position where I have confidence in my game,” said the softspoken Finley. “Whenever my number is called I just want to be prepared. Tonight was just an example of that.”

From his first day with the Celtics, Finley has said he has no expectations of his role. The team made him no promises of playing time.

“This team was a good one before I got here,” said Finley. “I just want to come in and help them be a better team. If that’s possible I’m all for it, but if I’m hurting the team, my ego can step away. But I think I can help this team get to the ultimate goal.”
