Davis on coming back: ‘Soon’

Celtics forward Glen Davis did not give a solid date for his return to game action, only saying “soon” over and over when asked by reporters in the Celtics locker room moments ago.

Davis was, however, working out on the court before tonight’s game, and he wasn’t just doing conditioning drills. The Celtics big man was shooting with his left hand, and he even took a couple of shots with his right hand. He’s down to a smaller cast on his broken right thumb than the one he originally had after the injury.

“I could probably make three of five shots with that hand,” Davis said. “Probably not good enough for the game.”

Davis said he has no restrictions on his workouts right now, but obviously he won’t be able to return to basketball until his cast is removed. He says he can eat and even type with his broken right hand now with the new cast. Davis also said he is in shape (though Rasheed Wallace jokingly denied it at the next locker) and said he feels lighter than he has felt in the past.

He says he feels he is in game condition, but that decision obviously will rest with Doc Rivers.

“The Bic Mac Attack will be back soon,” said Davis. “Soon.”
