Boston Celtics

Welcome to the Garden …

TD BANKNORTH GARDEN — Well, we made it here.

Welcome to the Garden, where the Boston Celtics (37-9) will take on the Sacramento Kings (10-36) at 7:30 p.m.

We’ll start with a public service announcement: It’s downright scary out there. The snow stopped long ago, but the sidewalks around the city bear a strong resemblance to the luge at Lillehammer. If you’re coming to the Garden tonight, tread carefully.

The Celtics delayed this morning shootaround to 5 p.m. tonight because of the weather. Led by assistant coach Tom Thibodeau, the team is out there right now running through some defensive sets.

The Kings come into tonight’s game after a miserable 117-110 loss to the Cavaliers last night in Cleveland. LeBron James only had 23 points, 11 assists, and 15 rebounds for the Cavs, while Mo Williams added 43 and 11 assists for Cleveland. Can’t imagine a more miserable back-to-back for any team than to come here after that.

The Kings have been buoyed of late by the return of star shooting guard Kevin Martin, who saw his streak of 13 consecutive games with 20 or more points end on Sunday in Toronto. But Martin missed significant time earlier this season for a Sacramento team that has fallen on hard times. The Kings have lost six in a row.

The Celtics, meanwhile, are on an NBA-high eight-game winning streak. With Brian Scalabrine out with a concussion, shooting guard Tony Allen could take his place on the active roster after an 11-game absence. We’ll have an update on Allen when he hear his official status.

The locker rooms open at 6 p.m. Probably best to stay home and watch. And keep the ole blog open for news and notes from the Garden all night.
