Boston Celtics

Powe on facing Yao

Rockets center Yao Ming had 26 points (on 10-of-13 shooting) and 8 rebounds tonight, including a monster offensive rebound and putback with 12.9 seconds left to seal the victory for Houston.

Yao is one of the most talented big men in the game, but he found success against a smaller front line that is the Celtics bench. Above, Celtics forward Leon Powe talked about facing Yao.

“Yao is a very skilled big man,” said Powe. “He was tough. It’s a very difficult matchup for anybody.”

Rockets teammate Ron Artest had high praise for his big man.

“Yao is unstoppable,” Artest said. “Sometimes a center will have a good game against him, but realistically, Yao can not be stopped. Then, when you have shooters surrounding him, it’s hard. It’s hard to guard him. He shot right over the top. When he’s playing like that, we’re going to be tough to beat.”
