Celtics, Pistons talking McDyess

Former Pistons forward Antonio McDyess, who was bought out by the Nuggets following the trade which sent him to Denver, is being eyed by several teams around the league, including the Cavaliers, Bobcats, Celtics, and Pistons. Both Doc Rivers and Michael Curry made their case for McDyess before tonight’s game.

“McDyess is not in uniform yet,” Rivers joked before the game. “You’ve just got to be patient.”

Asked whether he had been informed of any progress of Boston’s negotations with McDyess by GM Danny Ainge, Rivers pleaded ignorance.

“Not much at all, really,” he said. “I’m not involved with it right now. I’ve got to do the team, really. Honestly I haven’t gotten any reports, which is probably not good.”

McDyess must wait 30 days after the trade became official to re-sign with the Pistons, and the waiting has gotten to Curry, who said he was startled by a television report last night reporting Charlotte was interested in McDyess.

“I didn’t sleep good, man,” said Curry. “I figured they offered them a heck of a package. I figure the longer it goes, the better chance we have. I figure if he didn’t sign last week, he would get through this next week, with Thanksgiving. That will put us closer to [Dec. 7], so hopefully we can get it done.”

Rivers said he would have loved to have McDyess on his roster tonight with the Pistons in town.

“It would have been a great night to do it,” he said.
