Doc’s take
To most observers, the Pistons have a huge edge in this series at the point, where Chauncey Billups creates all sorts of matchup problems for other teams.
Celtics coach Doc Rivers heaped praise on Billups, but he also stood up for his point guard.
“[Rajon] Rondo has heard all year what he can’t do, and what we can’t do with him,” said Rivers. “And yet we’re here. And we’re here because of Rondo. Someone has to guard Rondo too. He has a quickness advantage in this series, and he’s going to have to use that.”
“He’s a freak in ways because he has a great post game and power game, and he’s such a great finesse player.”
“You could see him, and you could not,” said Rivers. “It depends on how the series is played. We’re pretty much trying to stay with what we have and what we’ve used.”
