The Cavs weathered a storm in the first quarter, overcoming a bad start to stay within striking range of the Celtics here after one.
Everything was going just fine for the Celtics until Paul Pierce was taken out of the game at the 3:15 mark. Pierce had 9 of Boston’s 16 points to that point, and the C’s only scored once more when Pierce left the game.
The Cavaliers, meanwhile, are being led by LeBron James, who has 9 points. Anderson Varejao and Delonte West have two points apiece for Cleveland. The Cavs are shooting 28 percent.
