Boston Celtics

West still popular

Delonte West was the only Cavalier to receive cheers during pre-game introductions on Tuesday night.

“The fans have always been supportive, even when we were one of the laughingstocks of the league,” said West. “I’ve seen a couple of guys with No. 13 West (Celtics) jerseys on in the stands. They were close to the floor. They said they were still rooting me on, and they were still rooting for their team at the same time.”

West was a fan-favorite during his time in Boston, thanks in large part to his constant hustle.

“I might not have been doing all wrong when I was here in Boston,” he joked. “It feels great. It shows what Celtics fans are all about. They definitely recognize a guy that’s playing to win, a guy that plays hard. They’re used to it. I think that’s my game. That’s what I brought when I was here. Even though we weren’t winning, I play to win. I don’t play for stats.”
