Welcome to the Garden
Welcome to the Garden, where the Celtics will take on the Cavaliers in Game 1 of their second-round playoff series at 8 p.m.
Rajon Rondo is out on the parquet right now warming up for the Celtics. Rondo is going through his usual routine of mid-range jumpers, followed by free throws. He’s got his pants sagging real low, causing this reporter to chuckle with a colleague. Celtics assistant coach Clifford Ray came over to ask what the laughing was about. We didn’t tell him. Clifford Ray is a big man.
On the other end of the court, former Celtic and current Cavalier Dwayne Jones is playing three-on-three with some other Cavs bench players and assistant coaches. In other words, the action hasn’t picked up here just yet.
There are 20 more media members credentialed for this game than for Game 7 against the Hawks, when it was pretty much a packed house. Expect that number to grow as the playoffs go on.
A few new banners hang on the fences near the entrance to North Station this evening. It’s feeling a bit more playoff-ey (not a word, I know) at the Garden.
This is just the first of many updates from the Garden this evening. Back in a bit when more players start to file in.
