Boston Celtics

Road mentality

Celtics forward Leon Powe is often the first player off the bench in the playoffs. This is his first time in the postseason, but he’s already approaching Game 6 in Atlanta like a veteran.

“As soon as we won this game we came in here [to the locker room] and said we have one more to win,” said Powe. “We can’t be satisfied with this win. We have to go down there with the mentality that we’re going to try to close it out, that we mean business. We’re not going out there lackadaisical, thinking we’re going to come back here and just win. It’s not going to be that easy.”

How do the Celtics change their approach in a hostile environment?

“We can’t relax,” said Powe. “Even if we get a big lead, we can’t relax because they feed off their crowd. When they make a good play their crowd gets really into it. They have some real good fans right now. That’s how they get their energy. We need to somehow match their energy without our fans being there.”
