Bibby draws ire
Hawks point guard Mike Bibby was the subject of ridicule from Celtics fans all night at the Garden. Among the chants Bibby heard were, “Rondo’s better”, “Where is Bibby?”, and “Bibby [stinks]”.
“I heard them,” Bibby said after the game. “I knew it was going to happen. They played a good game, I’m not really worried about the crowd. Like I said, we have to counter what [the Celtics] are doing for us, they are making every shot tough for us.
“The people know who I’m talking about, who I was talking about it. If everybody thinks they are bandwagon jumpers, then everybody in the crowd is now bandwagon jumpers. They know who they are. If they took offense to it, then they must be part of it.”
During their postgame press conference, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen were asked if they had ever been the subject of chants like that in an opposing arena.
“Neither one of us has said anything retarded,” said Garnett. “I can’t remember you (Allen) saying anything retarded. Have I ever said anything retarded? It is hard enough playing on the road versus causing attention to yourself. I can’t recall, no, neither one of us has said anything crazy like that.”
