Rivers: ‘We’re ready’
For every home game during the regular season, Doc Rivers stands in the hallway between the locker rooms and answers questions from reporters. His backdrop is a bare, concrete well. He’s often standing on wires from video cameras.
Tonight an “NBA Playoffs” banner hung behind Rivers, but not much else has changed. The coach said his team didn’t seem to be phased by it’s first playoff game.
“They seem ready,” Rivers said to a throng of reporters. “They’re ready not to see us anymore as a coaching staff, I can guarantee you that. We yell out a play of Atlanta and they yell it back, they know the play. That pretty much tells you they’re tired of hearing us, which I’m all for.”
Rivers joked that every player receives a playbook on Atlanta, but “if they open it they’ll probably find $100 on one of those pages.” He said he wasn’t concerned if every player didn’t read the playbook because his team has spent so much time focusing on the Hawks in practice.
