Boston Celtics

Celtics, 73-55 (3)

Rajon Rondo pushed the ball upcourt and Ray Allen punctuated an 11-4 run with a transition three-pointer as the Celtics opened up a 60-44 lead at the 7:47 mark in the third quarter. Atlanta hasn’t gotten much closer as we head to the fourth.

Allen had 12 points in the third as the Celtics continued to make their threes. They are now 7-of-11 in the game.

Rondo is having a monster game. He has 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists.

A telling stat in this game is the assist-to-turnover ratio for both teams. The Celtics have 16 assists and 7 turnovers. The Hawks have 11 assists and 13 turnovers.

  • Kevin Garnett lost a shoe and used a 20-second timeout to put it back on at the 10:04 mark.
  • Much was made of some comments before the series by some confident Atlanta Hawks, but the Hawks PR department isn’t too shy, either. The Hawks printed out a spiral-bound media guide for the playoffs. That’s a lot of work, and it doesn’t coincide with a team that expects to be one-and-done in the playoffs.
  • Kevin Youkilis is in the house. One guess as to how he was greeted when shown on the Jumbotron.
