Boston Celtics

Celtics, 49-30 (half)

Doc Rivers said before the game he would begin to rest his starters once the Celtics clinched homecourt advantage with the league’s best record.

They haven’t clinched. And Rivers isn’t giving anyone any extra rest so far.

Kevin Garnett played 18 minutes, Ray Allen 17 minutes, and Paul Pierce 17 minutes as the Celtics built a big halftime lead. They’re doing it with defense, holding Indiana to 25 percent shooting.

The game has been sloppy. The Pacers have 11 turnovers, while the Celtics have eight.

  • Weird crowd tonight. The teams haven’t given them much to cheer about, but they’ve been quiet at odd times and loud at others. They cheered after Rajon Rondo airballed a free throw.

More to come in the second half.
