Celts stick with it

The Celtics and Suns were tied at halftime, but Celtics coach Doc Rivers said he didn’t make any defensive adjustments with his team before pulling away from Phoenix in the second half. Phoenix shot 62 percent in the first half but finished at 55 percent for the game.

“You could hear the guys when we walked in [the locker room at halftime] saying, ‘We need to do this, we need to do that,’” said Rivers. “And we said, ‘We need to do what we’ve done all year. We’re making no changes.’ And we were very stern; I was very stern about that. That we’re not going to make a change. We’re going to play it our defense… And so we went over what they were doing, and we showed if we played our normal defense, that we’re able be a better team than trying to change. And they did that in the second half. And they were all great at it. So it was a great lesson for us.”
