Sixers gain confidence

Philadelphia coach Maurice Cheeks was ecstatic about his team’s win over the Celtics tonight.

“It was huge when you come in here and win a game like this against Boston,” said Cheeks. “It does a lot for us. We still have a long way to go. This is just one step to try and get to where we want to be. We have 11 games left in the season, that’s what we are concentrating on now. We’re not concentrating on playoffs or opponents, just the rest of the season.”

If the season ended today the Sixers would be the sixth seed in the East, half a game up on Toronto. Philadelphia is 5 games up on Atlanta in the eighth spot, which should make Celtics fans very happy. It is unlikely Boston will draw Philly in the first round.
