Boston Celtics

Celtics, 34-24 (1)

Paul Pierce found some seams in the Seattle defense in the first quarter, slashing for 14 points in the period.

When Rajon Rondo picked up two fouls midway through the quarter, it was Eddie House, not Sam Cassell, who replaced Rondo in the backcourt.

Doc Rivers said before the game that the Celtics are still working Cassell into the offense. The team has held a full practice since Cassell joined the team, but four Celtics players walked through some offense with the veteran point guard yesterday.

  • Not that it’s any surprise, but tonight’s crowd doesn’t compare to last Wednesday’s crowd in energy or enthusiasm. The Celtics hosted the Pistons a week ago.
  • Kevin Garnett got a standing ovation for surpassing the 20,000-point mark Saturday in Memphis. KG stood and waved to the crowd as he was being recognized.
