D-West back in business

Delonte West was a fan favorite in Boston, but his playing time diminished on a losing team in Seattle. He’s happy to be getting another chance in Clevelend.

“I actually had no idea [the trade was coming],” West said before tonight’s game. “Going through what I went through in Seattle definitely humbled me, and it kind of gets you prepared for a situation like this. Coming from not playing at all to being the starting PG over here on a championship-caliber team, it definitely wants to make you put your all out on the floor, and show this franchise that they made a good decision taking a chance on me.”

With Boston’s backup point guard situation still unresolved, did West ever think there was a chance of him coming back to Boston?

“I had heard rumors,” he said. “I’ve been seeing messages on the blogs, or people saying ‘You should go after Delonte.” But I found out in this league that nothing happens until it happens.”

West said he has no regrets about how things ended here.

“If I was a general manager or someone making decisions, and I had a chance to put Ray Allen together with Paul Pierce in the backcourt, I would have to pull that trigger myself. I don’t have no hard feelings.”
