Doc’s take

Celtics coach Doc Rivers cautioned against taking too much out of this win over Cleveland.

“They’re so new,” said Rivers of the Cavs, who made two significant trades last week. “We really didn’t see them. They’re going to be so much better late, because of the trades.”

Rivers was oddly pessimistic about his team’s win tonight. He said he was surprised his team shot over 50 percent (they shot 52 percent and were even higher for much of the game). He said Kevin Garnett didn’t look good, despite the fact that Garnett had 18 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.

“He was great, up until tonight,” said Rivers. “He didn’t move great tonight…We’ll find that out later.”

The Celtics got in from LA at 6 p.m. yesterday, and Rivers said he was concerned about his team’s sleeping patterns.

“I was really concerned about the game,” he said. “I was actually happy we were playing a team like Cleveland because I thought it would force us to have good focus.”
