Bobcats, 45-41 (half)
The Bobcats are giving the Celtics a game here at halftime.
Without Ray Allen tonight, the Celtics went a long stretch in the second quarter without any of their Big Three on the floor. At one point Boston went with a lineup of Brian Scalabrine, Tony Allen, Eddie House, James Posey, and Scot Pollard.
Fans chanted “Scalabrine” after Scal nailed a jumper with 9:54 remaining in the half.
Scalabrine then stole the ball on Charlotte’s next possession. A short time later, he drove the lane and found a wide-open Eddie House for a three-pointer to give the Celtics a 31-22 lead with 8:36 left.
It wasn’t until Paul Pierce and Kendrick Perkins re-entered the game that Charlotte made its run. The Bobcats took a 41-37 lead with 52 seconds left in the half when Pierce and Kevin Garnett were both in the game. The run was sparked by Gerald Wallace, who has 8 points and 5 rebounds for the Bobcats.
House has 7 points off the bench for the Celtics. Boston is shooting 42 percent.
We’ll have more for you in the second half.
