Welcome to the Garden

Welcome to the Garden, where the Boston Celtics (27-3) will take on the Memphis Grizzlies (9-22) at 7:30 p.m.

There’s a trio of Celtics warming up right now on the parquet. Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, and Tony Allen are going through separate shooting drills. Rondo didn’t make it out early before Wednesday’s game for his usual shooting, and his shot seemed to be off. He rushed to squeeze in his usual routine right before the game.

A member of the Celtics coaching staff just said “perfect form” to serve as both a reminder and a compliment for Rondo. The second-year point guard is also taking three-pointers, a shot he is not yet comfortable with in game-situations. Rondo’s mechanics break down a bit from beyond the arc, and it’s definitely evident that he’s pushing extra hard to get enough strength on the shot.

On the other end of the court, Mike Miller is warming for Memphis. The Grizzlies have several talented players, including Miller, Pao Gasol, and Rudy Gay. Gay, the former UConn product, has made phenomenal strides this season. The impossibly long forward is averaging 19.2 points and 5.5 rebounds this season. He averaged 10.8 points per game his rookie year.

The Grizzlies have also added rookie point guard Mike Conley Jr. this season, as well as Orlando Magic castoff (and former No. 2 pick) Darko Milicic. The talent is there, but Memphis hasn’t generated much on-court success so far this season.

We’ll have more from the Garden all night long. Stay tuned.
