Boston Celtics

Celtics, 56-41 (half)

Suffocating. That’s how the Celtics’ defense could be described here in the second quarter.

James Posey led the Boston bench with three three-pointers as the Celtics have opened up a good lead at halftime.

With Kevin Garnett on the bench, Posey, ‘Big Baby’ Davis, Tony Allen, and Scot Pollard helped keep the Bulls to 41 percent shooting in the first half. Chicago scored only 22 points in the second quarter.

Paul Pierce has seven points and seven rebounds for the Celtics. Garnett has 12 points and five rebounds. Kendrick Perkins has 10 points.

The Celtics are outrebounding the Bulls, 30-13

  • Tony Allen passed up a wide (read WIDE) open dunk and laid it off the backboard for a safe two points. He’s got to be hesitant about coming down wrong after last season’s knee injury.
  • Davis got a partial standing ovation when he checked into the game.
