It comes down to defense.

The Celtics have played suffocating defense here in the first half, holding the Pistons to 38 percent shooting. The Celtics are shooting 62 percent.

Rajon Rondo (14 points), Kevin Garnett (14 points), and Ray Allen (14 points) are all in double-figures for the Celtics. Allen has made all six shots he’s taken.

Chauncey Billups has 10 points and seven assists for the Pistons.

  • Doc Rivers got a technical foul with 2:11 remaining in the first half. He’s been on the refs all night.
  • Lots of TV timeouts tonight. The first half took a little longer than usual.
  • Unbelievable crowd tonight. By far the best crowd of the season. It’s a big game for the fans here, that’s for sure.
