Third-quarter spark
James Posey has always been known as a spark off the bench, so he’s as good a guy as any to ask what sparks the Celtics in most third quarters. The Celtics outscored the Bucks 32-15 in the third quarter tonight.
“I don’t know what it is, but in the third quarter, intensity is up on both ends,” said Posey. “It seems like we’re executing. It seems like there’s about five extra guys out there when we are aggressive like that on the defensive end. We just have that spurtability, and that comes from getting stops on the defensive end.”
Key to that defensive intensity was Tony Allen, who started in place of Ray Allen and held Milwaukee’s Michael Redd to seven points.
“T.A. did a great job,” said Posey. “Mike Redd’s been a great scorer. He was into his airspace and made it tough for him.”
Kevin Garnett agreed.
“T.A. was huge for us tonight, man,” said Garnett. “He was coming to the bench asking about his offense, but we were praising him more for his defense. He did a great job.”
