Boston Celtics

Welcome to the Garden

Welcome to the Garden, where the Celtics (9-1) will tip off against the L.A. Lakers (7-4) at 7:30 p.m.

James Posey and Eddie House are on the court right now shooting jumpers for the Celtics. House lets you know it during the games, but Posey is one of the most pure shooters on the team when he’s just sitting back, putting them up.

It’s changeover today here at the Garden. The Bruins won 2-1 earlier over the Islanders. There’s not much separating the basketball floor from the ice underneath, and since they just covered it up, it’s colder than usual in here. And it’s always freezing. Bring a sweater if you’re coming to the game.

The Lakers are always a big draw at the Garden, and we’re expecting more of the same here tonight. The Lakers have won four of their last five games. They’ve won their last three games against the Celtics. Kobe Bryant is averaging 26.9 points per game, his lowest average since Shaquille O’Neal was a Laker.

The Celtics have won all six of their home games this season, and they’ve won them by an average of 19.2 points.

We’ll have notes from the locker rooms in a bit.
