Perk breaks out
Kendrick Perkins had a career-high 21 points tonight. He also added nine rebounds.
“I always focus on defense,” said Perkins. “Every time I do that, the ball comes my way and I get easy baskets.”
There’s a lot of games I’ve been not moving to the open spot, not finishing quick. I’ve been working on that at practice. I’ve been working on diving when Paul, Ray, or Kevin get trapped. The rest will come.”
Perkins was asked if he would demand more touches from his teammates from now on.
“I’m not going to do that at all,” he said. “Just keep setting picks. Every time I set picks they seem to find me. So that’s all I have to keep doing.”
Captain Paul Pierce praised the play of his big man.
“He’s really taken advantage of a lot of opportunities out there,” said Pierce. “A lot of teams are focused on me, Kevin, and Ray. These guys are really stepping up, and tonight was an example of that. The big guy was ready to go. He was in the right places at the right time. He’s getting hungry and getting better every day.”
