Boston Celtics

Four and five

Paul Pierce isn’t surprised by how well Rajon Rondo and Kendrick Perkins have filled out the starting five for the Celtics. Perkins (21 points, 9 rebounds) and Rondo (10 assists) are going to have a tough time hiding if they keep this up.

“We knew [how good they were]. The rest of the world didn’t know,” said Pierce. “They’re starting to figure it out. Rondo is a guy you’re finally going to have to start honoring. He’s knocking down shots. He’s being a playmaker. Perk doing the thing’s he’s doing, he’s playing the exact role we want him to play. They’re going to be on people’s scouting report before long.”

  • Speaking of hiding, after the game Celtics coach Doc Rivers was highly amused with one of Perkins’s habits.

“When they double-team him he gets in this crouched position and sneaks around,” said Rivers. “And I’m trying to convince him that we can still see him. You know? He’s 7-feet-tall. He does it a lot. It’s pretty comical.”
