Ray Allen had a field day in the opening period as the Celtics established a 25-16 lead in front of a rowdy Friday night crowd.

Allen scored 9 points in the first. He also guarded Kobe Bryant and helped hold the Lakers superstar to 8 points.

Kendrick Perkins has 7 points and 3 rebounds for the Celtics.

  • After playing 7 minutes in the first, Paul Pierce became the 9th Celtic to surpass 25,000 minutes played for Boston. Ray Allen surpassed the 30,000 minutes played (Milwaukee, Seattle, and Boston) mark in the first quarter as well.
  • Kevin Garnett was replaced at the end of the quarter by Brian Scalabrine.
  • Bryant is being booed every time he touches the ball.
