Celtics, 105-82 (final)
Three is enough.
The Celtics showed their talent is enough to overcome a lackluster performance in tonight’s 105-82 win over Golden State.
Ability showed up big in the third quarter as the Celtics opened up a 17-point lead going into the final frame. With 3:27 to go and both teams gasping for air, Eddie House made a three-pointer to put the Celtics up 15. Ray Allen then came back and hit a three on the next possession. And with the other nine players in slow motion, Allen hit another three at the 2:09 mark to put the Celtics up 19 points and put the game effectively out of reach.
In an ugly game, the Celtics didn’t have to scratch and claw their way to a win. They just had to shift up one gear higher, to a gear a team like the Warriors just doesn’t possess. This game was never in doubt despite 19 Boston turnovers.
Allen led the Celtics with 21 points and 7 rebounds, but none of the Big Three dominated for Boston. Kevin Garnett snuck in a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Paul Pierce had the best game of the three with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Monta Ellis led the Warriors with 21 points. Golden State seemed disinterested after an easy win over the Knicks last night in New York.
The Celtics are now 9-1. They return to action Friday night at the Garden with a game against Kobe Bryant and the rival Lakers.
Marc Spears will check in later with a final update from the Garden. Happy Thanksgiving, ya’ll.
