Big Al’s take
Al Jefferson might have been the least surprised person in the building that the Celtics went to him consistently down the stretch, even with Paul Pierce on the floor.
“That’s what I do,” said Jefferson. “I’m a low-post scorer. That’s the strong part of my game. So Paul should be able to trust me and Doc should be able to trust me to go to me on the block with one minute left in the game. That’s what I do.”
“We know they were going to make a run, but we had an answer to the run. It’s all about our defense. Doc’s been saying from Day 1 of training camp that it’s all about defense. We have guys on this team that can score. We just have to get some big stops on the other end.”
“No disrespect to them, but we aren’t making the playoffs, so we try to keep everybody we can from making the playoffs,” he said.
