Celtics, 58-54 (half)
Down 15 points early in the second quarter, the Celtics got an infusion of Gerald Green and a Paul Pierce booster shot to take the lead going into halftime.
Led by Mo Williams (20 points), Milwaukee continued its hot shooting to start the second quarter. The Bucks built a 41-26 with 8:26 left in the first half.
Green hit a three-pointer on Boston’s next possession, and Pierce followed a Kendrick Perkins block with a floater in the lane to cut the lead to 10. Another Green three-pointer brought the Celtics to within seven, 41-34, with 7:10 left in the half.
Green provided Boston with a much-needed spark off the bench in the second period. The second-year forward scored 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting in the quarter. He and Pierce led a Boston run that pulled the Celtics to within 48-46 with 3:31 left in the second quarter.
Wally Szczerbiak put the Celtics ahead and Pierce extended the lead late in the quarter with a layup and a three-pointer.
