Popovich’s take
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was his usual animated self after the game.
“Well, the fans got their money’s worth tonight,” said Popovich. “They saw two games and I don’t think it said that on the ticket. I think it just said one game for the date today. I think it’s pretty good for them to see a couple of games.”
Popovich was referring to San Antonio building a big lead, only to see the Celtics claw back and cut the lead to two with under a minute to play.
“Well hey, wins are wins,” said Popovich. “But you know, their energy and youth and aggressiveness I thought was a real credit to what they’re trying to do and the circumstances they’ve been in with all the injuries and losses. I thought that was a great show of character to hang in that game.”
