Allen has surgery
Celtics guard Tony Allen underwent successful knee surgery Saturday at New England Baptist Hospital, according to a statement released by the team. The surgery was performed by Celtics team physician Dr. Brian McKeon. Allen is expected to miss the rest of the season with the injury.
An MRI Wednesday night confirmed Allen had tore both the MCL and ACL ligaments in his left knee. Allen went up for a dunk against Indiana Wednesday and came down awkwardly on his left leg. Allen was averaging 20.8 points per game in January with Paul Pierce out of the lineup.
