The Boston Bruins bolstered some of their D-corps depth on Tuesday, plucking blueliner Vladislav Kolyachonok off waivers from the Dallas Stars.
The 24-year-old Kolyachonok is a left-shot D who has appeared in 85 NHL games across parts of five seasons — including 11 games this year with Dallas.
He scored a goal and added two helpers in those 11 games with the Stars, logging an average of 12:37 of ice time per contest.
But with Dallas now in a roster crunch with several defensemen already on the roster, Kolyachonok was placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the AHL — with Boston subsequently scooping him up.
A former second-round pick by Florida in the 2019 NHL Draft, Kolyachonok projects as a puck-moving asset on the back end who has posted encouraging underlying metrics over the last few seasons — even if that hasn’t directly led to a steady dose of reps.
Any team in need of a depth defender with solid movement on the backend would be wise to claim Vladislav Kolyachonok, who was just placed on waivers. pic.twitter.com/kGzAihOLHe

If Kolyachonok can shift to his weak side, the Bruins could utilize his playmaking capabilities — especially with Boston already dealing with several injuries on defense between Jonathan Aspirot, Henri Jokiharju, Jordan Harris, and Michael Callahan.
A puck-moving skater like Kolyachonok with strong metrics could also potentially push a lineup regular like Mason Lohrei — whose playmaking skills have been undercut with some D-zone miscues during his time with Boston.
The Bruins have some familiarity with Kolyachonok, as he scored a highlight-reel goal against Boston while playing for Utah during the 2024-25 season.
Kolyachonok did this to the Bruins last season.

Limited reps across several NHL seasons, but some strong underlying numbers as a puck-moving D. https://t.co/TnAnNq0gLK
