The Bruins will officially enter the NHL Draft lottery with the fifth-best odds of winning the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

Boston officially closed the 2024-25 season with the fifth-worst record in the NHL at 33-39-10 — with the Flyers leapfrogging the Bruins on Thursday and securing the fourth-best odds at the No. 1 pick.

Entering the final day of the NHL regular season on Thursday, the Bruins, Flyers, and Kraken were all tied in the standings with 76 points.

The Kraken and Bruins closed out their respective seasons on Tuesday, with Seattle slotting further down the draft board because it has more regulation wins (28) than both Boston (26) and Philadelphia (21).

The Bruins could have remained at that No. 4 spot, but it switched positions with Philadelphia after the Flyers were unable to secure at least a point in their season finale against the Sabres on Thursday (a 5-4 regulation loss in Buffalo).

Because the Flyers were unable to add another point, both Philly and Boston end the year with 76 points, with Philly moving up the draft order because it had fewer regulation wins than Boston.

While Boston is still in position to secure a talented prospect in the 2025 NHL Draft in June, a strong end to the regular season (three out of four points secured against the Penguins and Devils) will loom large if the Flyers are able move further up the draft leaderboard once the lottery is held.

The five teams with the best odds at landing the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NHL Draft are:

1. San Jose Sharks
2. Chicago Blackhawks
3. Nashville Predators
4. Philadelphia Flyers
5. Boston Bruins

The Bruins will not know where exactly they will pick in the NHL Draft until the NHL Draft Lottery is held, with a date yet to be announced. With the fifth-best odds, Boston has the ability to move all the way up to No. 1, and could fall down to No. 7.

According to Tankathon, here are the odds that the Bruins have at landing several picks entering the draft.

1st overall: 8.5 percent
2nd overall: 8.6 percent
3rd overall: 0.3 percent
4th overall: 0 percent
5th overall: 24.5 percent
6th overall: 44.0 percent
7th overall: 14.2 percent
