David Pastrnak exits Bruins’ win over Capitals with upper-body injury
David Pastrnak left Monday's game with 11:45 remaining in the second period.
The Bruins were without their top scorer for the majority of Monday’s home matchup against the Washington Capitals.
David Pastrnak exited Boston’s eventual 4-1 win against Washington midway through the second period due to an upper-body injury, with the Bruins tabbing him as “unlikely to return” early in the third period.
Pastrnak — who logged 9:00 of ice time — left the game for good with 11:45 remaining in the second period.
Interim head coach Joe Sacco didn’t have much in terms of details for Pastrnak after Monday’s win.
“He left with an upper-body injury,” Sacco said. “I’ll get more details on it, either later tonight or tomorrow. We’ll have some more information on that.”
The 28-year-old winger appeared to be skating gingerly early in the second period of play, but then appeared to be in some pain after making contact with Capitals forward Tom Wilson near center ice.
Even though Pastrnak did not immediately head down the tunnel, he only logged a few more shifts before leaving the game for good. He finished with one shot on goal and logged 1:18 of power-play reps.
Bruins captain Brad Marchand also offered up little in terms of an update on Pastrnak’s status after the win, albeit with another blunt retort from the veteran.
“Looks phenomenal naked,” Marchand said when asked how Pastrnak looked after the game. “I saw him in the shower. Want me to go on?”
Even though Pastrnak has appeared in all 35 of Boston’s games so far this season, he has taken his fair share of bumps and bruises.
Ahead of Boston’s five-game road trip out west earlier this month, Pastrnak missed practice at Warrior Ice Arena with what interim head coach Joe Sacco tabbed as an “upper-body issue”.
Even with that absence in Brighton, Pastrnak didn’t miss any time on the road. Even though Pastrnak’s goal-scoring production has dipped this season (12 tallies in 35 games), he has recorded 16 points in his last 13 games.
With the Bruins now on their standard three-day holiday break, an official update on Pastrnak’s status may not be released until Friday.
